Description
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi is one of the must-see monuments of all the United Arab Emirates. This architectural work of art is one of the largest mosques in the world, with its amazing capacity for 40,000 worshipers. It includes 80 domes, about 1,000 columns, 24-carat gold-plated chandeliers, and the largest hand-woven rug in the world. The main prayer room is dominated by one of the largest chandeliers in the world - 10 meters in diameter, 15 meters high and weighing more than 9 tons. The first ceremony that took place was the burial of Sheikh Zayed, who is buried on the site and who gave his name to the mosque.
